    Default Adobe Reader Alternative

Looking for an alternative to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

I have tried multiple times to update and install it and I keep getting the Newer version already installed error. I tried updating it first and it failed every time. Then I tried uninstalling and starting over with a clean build but I ended up getting the same Newer version already installed error. When I used the system restore point to get back to how the system was before the update/install the reader still did not work. I thought about the Pro version to get around the error but I quickly realized I am not interested in the Pro version at all, one because it costs after the trial period ends, I may have been able to get around that by just letting them revert to the free version when the trial period ended?, and two and even more unacceptable to me is that it forces you to use the Cloud.
